The Jersey Girls Chapter of Women in the Wind was started in 1996. We carry over the values of our International parent and advance its mission locally. We are a true riding club. We have rides almost every weekend of the riding season and have Thursday evening rides from various locations in the state. Most of our rides are open to friends and non-members. We ride near and far; short and long runs; day and overnight trips. We visit historic sites; explore the beautiful places around us; or sometimes just go for a bite to eat. We support many local biker events and help to raise money for area charities.
MISSION STATEMENT
To unite women motorcyclists with friends of common interest; to promote a positive image of women on motorcycles; and, to educate its members on motorcycle safety and maintenance.
MONTHLY MEETINGSOur chapter holds membership meetings on the third Thursday of every month, at a location determined by the membership. The meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. In addition to sharing each other's company, we plan rides, events, and discuss monthly club business. Our meetings are also a great opportunity to answer the individual questions of any prospective member
In 1979, Becky Brown placed an ad in her local newspaper. Soon after, eleven women took their first ride as a club through the scenis byways of the Maumee River. Since those first women in Toledo chose a name, Women in the Wind has expanded to more than 1000 members and spanned the globe across the U.S. and into Great Britain, Canada, and Australia. The organization now sports over 90 chapters, and while sometimes the chapter locations and member faces change, Women in the Wind keeps its spirit to promote a positive image of women motorcyclists.
We welcome all kinds of motorcycles, and our members are from all walks of life: everything from students to secretaries, real estate agents and teachers, factory workers, and police officers. Our members are married and single, mothers and grandmothers. We have them all!
We host nationals twice a year, and all members are encouraged to attend to meet a great group of women who love motorcycling.
